Due Date Club August 2008:Elevated Sugar - GCT test
2008-06-13
Name: Preeti

Yesterday I got my results for Glucose Screen test and My sugar came out High - I was detected 140 and my doctor suggested to take the Glucose Tolerance test since the normally range should be below 135.
My question is that if I am not detected with the GD do I still need to follow the strict diet ?I mean i surely will have to control sugar and carbs intake.. But has anyone had a previous experience with a situation where they were detected with High Sugar but No GD and what were things suggested in that case ?

Everthing for me was going good untuil this Sugar thing has appeared and I am little bit worried about not being able to provide enough nutrition to my baby.

Well thanks, regards and all the best to ALL the Moms.

Thanks Sheetal and Reshmi for sharing your experiences. I just got my GTT results yesterday and everyhting was noraml so No GD.. I am releived :) But I will surely control sweets and limit the intake. After all it is only few more weeks for all of us until we will have our angels in our hands ! Good luck to all of you. Reshmi - I dont know if it is girl or a boy we decided to keep it a surprise since it is our first one.

Hi Preeti, my initial glucose screening came at 155. So i had to go for the GTT. I waited for like a week before i went and till that time, i avoided sugar. the GTT came normal and i m back to eating my chocolates. However, i am just trying not to overdo it and eat a moderate amt though I shldn' t be overly worried abt it coz the test was afterall normal.
