Hi,

Can someone pls tell me what quantity of khichdi is ideal for a 13 month baby. i know that each child will have diff. eating limits, but what is the ideal amount if the child was to eat khichdi for lunch and dinner. Could you pls let me know how many tablespoons of rice and dal to put.

Can someone tell me if i have to feed rava upma to my baby, shall i make it the same way as south-indians make or is the recipe diff for babies.

Eagerly waiting for your replies.
Thank you.

- for a 1 yr old, i think khichdi and upma can be given as we cook for elders

- you can visit a site like sannjeevkapoor dot com OR tarladalal dot com to know recipes for babies or khichdi

- khichdi is cooked differently in north and south. In north, they use the green-half cut-moong dal along with rice. it is almost 1:1 in ratio (1 spoon khichdi 1 spoon daal) and is cooked semi solid.
In south i have seen using yellow moong dal with a lighter rice quality, with added haldi while cooking. The cooked khichdi is not semi solid, its like our normal cooked rice but very soft so u can mash add ghee and feed.

- my kid loves to eat both khichdis with dahi

- u can give same upma i think. just make sure u dont pass too much udal dal/dry fuits to the kid as a part of it.
