Hi everyone,
I live in USA and I will be travelling with my 17 month old daughter to India next month. This will be her first trip to India. All the experienced mothers out there..could you please give me some tips and pointers on what I need to carry from here and what are the things that I need to watch out for when I am in India.

Thanks in advance for all your help!.

Rani

i came from india last week.
you will not be allowed to carry salt or sugar in your cabin bag. its always available in the flight. you will not be allowed to take water.ask for water 30minutes before your baby feeding time.air crews need lots of reminders.
my baby was having mild fever so they allowed me tylnol but i was asked to taste it during my checking. i was not allowed makeup kit.
you will not need any first aid kit, in flights it is available.keep them in your luggage for travel in india.
during takeoff and landing, offer your baby something to eat or drink to avoid any fuss.
i was not allowed to take diaper rash creme. if you want to take it, get it written by your dr that your baby needs a rash cream application at every diaper change, its only then you will be allowed. at my last visit to india, they were not allowing me saline drops. but my baby gets stuffy nose during travelling by air, so this time i got it written by my doc.
gerber foods are great to take along. make sure they are store packed. But
be prepared to throw them.i was allowed to take pasta pickups plastic containers but not the bottles. i had to throw the carrot and apple jars.they allowed me gerber graduate microwave meal as they were store packed. give your kid these meals to know his preferences a week before of your travel so that you don't have to worry. crew members need alot of reminders, so chase them.tell them 30 mins before to heat your foods. they often heat the baby food very high. so give them to heat it 15-20minutes before your kid feeds. i took some boiled vegetables with me, they allowed me that. i told them, after 10 minutes, its my baby meal time.and it will be difficult for me to get other foods microwaved.
small packs of pediatyle in your checkin luggage will be great in diarhea. vicks baby rub, saline drops was a great help in mild cold in india.my baby was teething so i also took orajel and motrin with me. in cabin they will allow you orajel, but you will have to tell them that your baby is teething and you need to put it every 2-3hours. get it written by your doc if required.
get any vaccination if required by your doc in US. i was going to city and my doc said that its malaria zone so my baby was given medicine and a shot a week before my travel to india.
i was told to give him those medicines after 1 week of reaching india.

hope this was some help.

hai!!
LIST TO BE TAKEN:
1)disposable bibs
2)bottles(if she is using)
3)medicines(tylenol,mylicon,rash cream..)wotever her doc has prescribed
4)mosquitoe cream(aske the baby's doc to prescribe it)now tht chicken gunya fever is in peak in india, try to be careful.ask urpeople at home to get a mosquitoe net ready for the baby girl.
5)enough diapers,wipe
6)suction pump(to clean stuffy nose),thermometer
7)favouritetoys for travel(otherwise ur travel will become hell)takeatleast 1 or 2 toys in hand luggage
8)always keep small salt and sugar packets i ur diaper bag.incase of diarrohea during travel or any time u can mix it with water and feed.tht way the baby can be hydrated.
9)some ready made baby food will help during travel.
10)pictured books to keepthe baby occupied when travel..
11)always carry some cotton, band aid in ur diaper bag.during flight take off and landing feed the baby(as she is 17 months i dont think it will a big probm)if possible close her ears thoroughly or use some cotton to avoid the pressure drop change in her ears.sometimes they dont knw wots happenning and may strt to scream.divert her during take off and landing..better is to make her asleep.

thts all i can think abt..
all the best
and have a gr88 memorable trip,..
regards
tm!!
