hello everybody, how to make khichdi which is not too watery. however much i try to make it for my baby, initially it will be sort of semi solid, but towards the end of his meal it becomes really runny. i make khichdi & run in a blender. shd i just mash it instead of using a blender? pls guide me. thanks in advance for your suggestion.

this is how i make it :
1dal:2-3rice,,vegies,,if total is 1 cup/bowl, i will put 2-3cups/same bowl that i measured my dal/rice/vegies..

water/depnding on dal and vegies,,whistle upto 4-5times,..it comes out great..when cooker steam is totally fused off,,,,,it opens easily..and then serve warm..at 4-5 whistles gnrally, its quite smooth enough to just mash with hands or spoon/fork...i have never used blender,,hand was better option for me,,,
i dont like to wash a seperate vessel(blender jar) even in dishwasher, unless absolutely needed !!

the good thing with mashing with fork or spoon or hand is your baby understands the solid texture,,instead of all the time soupy texture,,down the line thats what you want !!
when i introduce khichadi first time, for the first 2-3days,, i made it liquid/soupy by putting some buttermilk(curd+water) or vegie broth in the mashed khichdi...bt never used blender..after couple days, graduated her to pasty texture..and next week itself she was ready for unmashed but overcooked dal/rice !

sometimes the vegies remain a bit lumpy,,so great way to introduce lumpier foods...
hope this helps...
