sry couldnt catch up with so many posts,,,
since your dr has asked you to start solids, i will not comment on it.
now about his diet.
as far as you are givin your baby cereal as recommended on manufacturers box, m not worried..as the measurements of each cereal is differntly distributed acc to the nutrients it has.
now her schedule :
breakfast: ok, how is your milk supply,,as its not more than 5mins, do you still feel full as if she didnt empty your breast..if she then she is not drinking well,,if you feel emply while she jst started to drink,,it means your milk supply is less..you need to eat a healthy diet, remain stressfree or start formula.
like i said in my earlier post, she is ready for all the listed foods i mentioned,,start her with that.
at 4.5months dont offer solids for more than twice! giving watery consistency(like can b given in water does not count),,
i see only onething is your bm is not sufficient for her, thats the reason she is not able to latch for longer time...at 4.5months its not expected much from a baby to sleep thru out the night, esp if the baby is breastfeed, but a sound sleep/naps of 3-4hours is expected..however its not specific guidelines,,it depds on quality of your milk and baby sleeping habits,,that are decided eversince she was in your womb.
i will not mind if you feed her until 6months even if you have to get up at night..its okay upto 6months,,after 6months, reduce the night feeds and slowly but gradually offer other solids..
with birth weight 3.1, at 4.5months,i expect her to grow upto 6.2kgs..so considering her age, it looks good to me.
so try your best with breastfeeding as long as you can..her weight looks good to me.dont worry if you have to feed your baby often or may be very often sometimes,,,remember whats imp is one more 1.5month of bf !! and then you can leave the struggle...check on milk supply, eat a good healthy diet and remain stress free. make your baby is well hydrated and passes his regular bowels,,and doesnt get into constipation,,since its 4.5months,,go slow until 6months for solids...
take care, happy dassheraaa..
njoy.

Subject:  hi there,

milk supply is going less doesnt mean that your ongoing process of producing milk will shut down. you will have periodic fillings in your breasts, every interval, acc to whatever time you were pumping or feeding your baby,,body is programmed that way to give milk at that time, so that your baby is not hungry...but in 5-10mins you are feeling mpty, which has two indications,,one is either she is getting enough in that 5-10mins with a good supply(but quality of milk is not good enough, thats how your dr felt the need of solids for your lil one.)
Or in that 5-10min, if you are feeling empty, it also means that qty wise your milk has reduced per feeding which is reducing your feeding time..,,but all of these does not mean that your milk supply will stop,,it all means they are less than before,,its obvious from 4months onwards,,

in majority of women, there is nothing wrong with it,,women body goes into so much of pressure and stress with taking care of house and work and other issues,,,its not easy to cope with everything without an extra helping hand.all that counts to reduction in milk..also regular healthy diet in itself becomes a challenge when it comes to cooking and takin care of everything single handed..

now about your cereal,,good i expected her to get into real solids than with watery consistency,,,there you go,just wat your baby needed...once you start solids, always progress further rather than sticking to one texture,,for you ofcourse its too earlier to do but watery texture is for first 2-3days of introductions thats alll....
if your manufacturers says 5scoops 5 times a day for above 6months,,i will recommend at 4.5months,,that you to give 1-2scoops once a day and then slowly/very slowly...take her to 3scoops once a day, at her 5months onwards..please note that if your baby seems to b asking for solids, always go ahead and add 1 scoop in the evening or the other part of the meal,,but only 1 !! go slow,,y hurry.

likewise,,go ahead with qty and then number of times..always rem onething that dont increase both at the same time,,if you are giving her more qty give her when she is badly hungry to ensure that she eats well and then you get rest of 3-4hours..and also make sure its for sure a solid consistency and not soupy !! like either one time 2-3scoops or 2times 1-1.5scoops,,or 3 times 1 scoop in each part of the day...

if you are giving little qty, expect her to demand for it , the second time, but the same 50% proportion...e.g.today she wasnt hungry, she had 2 scoops of cereals,,and then in the evening, give her another 2 scoops,,thats all.or 1 scoop..if she is able to take 3-4scoops at a time, give her exactly in the middle of the day, to ensure that by the end of the day, she plays well and digest it well...

if you give the whole feed of solid in evenings, your baby will tend to put on useless weight or wat we call as fat, and might have stomach issues in future related to indigestion,,so mk sure that she plays well with every feed of solid..exercise is a must for ne humans, may be adults or infants.

and likewise than take her to 4-5scoops by the end of 6month considering that by then your baby will be ready for many other solids, vegies, fruits and such things.like i said dont just concentrate of one type of food or one type of texture...the main key behind to introduce solidss is to teach baby to eat and accept adult foods and not stay or rather depend on milk forever,,so keep going ahead with acceptance in accordance to your baby !!!!

however, make sure you dont give excess of nething and try to balance the quantity at her feeding times...

until 6months, i would like you to force you to feed her and give her your bm more often than to concentrate on solids..doesnt matter if she is hungry more often !!
about her weight, she is on heavy side, so go slow in solid,,why you want to hurry..my baby was just as same as yours,,guess what, i extended breastfeeding and bm upto 7.5whole months..then i weaned her slowly by the time she was 10months..by then she was so desperate for food that she used to mimic chewing food when we used to have our meals,i used to make sure she is present at your meal times,,,,she even used to ask for it,,,so i started solids and she njoyed them...though lateron she was on my bm until she was 1 year...she too was on heavvy side, her weight percentile is just like your baby,,95% !!!! she was born 8.1lbs though,,but was very heavy with body mass, muscle tone !!
so right now dont worry about her weight,,when she starts eating 3meals a day,at around 7-8months,,, its at that time,,make sure to give your baby healthy nutrients other than fat,,and reduce or kind of go low on fat at the same give required natural fat !! its that simple..i did the same for nirja,..when i was reading your post, it made me remind of nirja,,i had same fears,,now at 13.5months,,she is perfectly fine with perfect muscle tone and jst the needed fat levels...and the good thing is i dont have to worry even if she goes on fast for couple days because of her teething issues....
once babies learn to cruise, crawl and walk,,,,thats it ! their body becomes a lean mean fat burning machine :)) so until than its good to have good fat accumulated ! go slow on solids is the best key for you !!!

its festival time so whole day puja, diya and then prasaad, frequent visits to temple and in that taking of regular routines, still stands the same..so it makes me packed up...baki all is fine,,but i do think of taking break during my delivery time ! until then,,lets have a wonderful time here :)

btw whats your baby name,,take care,,good luck to you.

Happy dusshera to u & ur family.Thanx for replying to this mail. I can understand that u must be having a tough time, replying to so many posts.
Well.. Probably my milk supply is less, as I do feel empty when she drinks for 5 or 10 mins.. But, then, if that is the case, why do i find myself full within hrs of going to office? (I need to pump my breasts around 3 times in my 10-7 schedule at work, otherwise, it starts flowing out).
What i understand from ur post is that I should continue feeding her in the night as often as she needs (like i said , she wakes up every 2 hrs). wud do that.. And, abt my cereal, i have started giving her the same amt in solid consistency, and, she is able to stay for 3 hrs without milk, after that.. But, u didn't tell me whether 4 scoops (16 gms) of cerelac should be okay to give, or, is it too much ? The manufacturer says 5 scoops 5 times a day, but, for babies above 6 months....

Anyway, i am not much concerned abt her weight as of now, but, i fear she might become obese as she grows up.. She is kind of chubby, and, has two folds under her chin (I mean to say i can't see her neck (!) unless she rolls over and lifts her head ! )
Bye.. Take care. I guess, it is time u think of taking a brk from india parenting, and, look after ur kids (Nirja n the li'l one inside!)
