Due Date Club October 2003:Question on parents' visa

I have been reading the postings on visa and had a question. If my father is above 65 and mom is below 60, can they both use the drop box? Or does it mean that my dad can use the drop box and mom has to go for an interview?
I am really concerned, because their passports have not yet been issued and I dont know if they will get an interview slot in time.

Hi,
My parents are in Hyd too.My mom has applied for passport&is waiting.How did they apply directly or thru an agent?My mom applied thru' an agent,not sure how long it is going to take.
Where in the US are you&welcome to the Oct board.

Hi Manvi,
Thanks for the welcome! I live in Charlotte. Where are you from?
My parents applied directly, and we are now playing the waiting game.
I just hope all our parents visas come through without rejections.

Hi Suni

Both your parents can use the dropbox, only one of the parents has to be above 65 for the couple to be eligible.
Have they now applied for the passports? Dropbox appointments are also available on internet, in Delhi it is very fast also, they get the visa stamped and returned by courier with in a week.

Hi Manisha,

My parents applied for their passports more than 2 months back, I guess they are really slow in Hyd these days. I am glad they can use the drop box, did not want to go through the interview process. As soon as they receive their passports, I will set up their appt. through the internet. Hope you are enjoying your pregnancy, I just finished my 21st week, and am so eager for the months to fly by through October!
