Feeding:Thumsucking Vs. Pacifier

Hi !

my daughter is 27 weeks old and she has now started sucking her thumb. i am really confused as to what i should do as her doctor says that it's perfectly normal for her to suck her thumb to soothe her. i can't really say that she does it because she is hungry. i am trying to put her on a pacifier as i think that would be better than the thumb. i am also in doubt as to why she is doing that - it could also be due to her gums troubling her or that she is theething. so which is better ? do i let her suck her own thumb or use the pacifier ? Thanks !!

Hi Vani,

I used pacifier for my child and it was really helpful and peacefull esp when he cried. I think pacifier is a good idea as the child remains quiet and if u see abroad, children keep using it till they are 2 or 3 years old and the myths and facts about using pacifier doesnt hold good. If u r in India try getting a pacifier from abroad and it will surely solve ur problem. Dont use the Indian ones as they are not ortho certified.
