Trying since long:Hi everybody
2006-03-17
Name: Kartika

I am new on this board.
to begin with we are trying to conceive since 2 yrs.had gone thru all testings and result is that my progesterone level was found low ie.4 on 21 st day of my cycle.i do not know reason for this.
my dr advised us to go for iui cycle and called us for training for how to take shots .i was surprised cause in india dr personally gives us all injections.hearing that i have to give shots myself i am feeling very low as to how i will give them.she told me to take shots above belly,or in thigh or hands.my husband is very sensitive he wont be able to give shots to me.
i wanted to ask other friends who are going thru iui in US do u take shots yourself or your Dr gives u?i am new in US not aware of any such thing.acc. to u which is safe way of giving shots without any side effects.
would really appreciate reply from you friends

Hi kshama,hopingfortejas,karishma,

Thank you all for your quick suggestion .first i will try to give shots by myself and if there is any problem than i have to talk to my dr.
sometimes i feel our india is far better than USA.atleast our drs in india are concerned about patients but over here these drs are very professional.
anyway since we are over here no choice go ahead with our treatment.
till then u all take care will let u know my progress in treatment .
all the best to u all and i will pray for u girls for good news .

regards ,
kartika

Hi kartika,

Even i'am planning to go for IUI this month or next month. But mine is just clomid and IUI, no injectables.
But was su[rised after reading u'r mail,
Yes as hoping.. told u US is really WIERED in some matters. U need to be brave and keep going.
ofcourse if u are not comfortable taking u'rself then there is always a option of asking hopsiptle to give. U tell them that u are afraid of this. They will give u another option.
Sometimes i feel that if only i live in my our own india i wouldn't have faced all this.

Hey nothing to worry at all, u will go through this very easily and just think u will get pregnant after IUI.
So what is there in those simple injection people undergo so much more then this what is this simple right:)

Good luck.
keep us updated
kshama

hey ...
i am in US and undergoing IUI ...

it is true that you can take your shots by yourself here ..actually it is not difficult once you get used to it ...
it is generally that way because people find it very difficult to keep going to hospital in the busy schedule .....

but i think they do give the shots there if need be ... they will only charge you something and you need to maybe get an appointment for that ... so try asking your doc that ...

now that u r here ... let me tell you one more thing from my personal experiences .... doctors here are highly professional and tell everything to the point , they will evne tell you few things which might be highly scary and not neccesarily what might happen ...

for instance, before giving an HCG shot, they will make you sign a document which has all the sideeffects of the medication(some of them might be scary and also very rare -not everyone will have them..) ..but they do that so that they cannot get sued later by the patient ..WEIRD USA ... :)

Anyway ..what i am trying to tell you is ..do not take everything that the doc tells you too seriously... ofcourse be careful to see to it that you do not have any of the sideeffects ..but remember that it will not be the same as in India :(

Goodluck, girl and do post any Qs you have :)

-P

hi dear

how come doc is telling u to take shots. Here in India, doc gives them to us!!!

Just tell the doc tht u r not comfortable in giving shots for ur own self and tell him tht it wud b better if he gives u the shots or if the nurse gives u the shots.

I can believe ur doc told this to u!!

Neways u take care and do let us know wat ur doc said.

Stay Positive, things will definitely work for u.

Much Love,

Karishma

We have been married for the last 12 years. We are trying for a baby but unfortunately every time it's disappointing. I had 3 abortion, 2 Ectopic pregnancy, 1 IUI failure and 2 IVF failures. I had septum in the uterus and got removed. Since I had a history of ectopic pregnancies, both my fallopian tubes are tied. Due to the poor ovarian reserve ... - Malini [View Message]
