hi!My son is 22months older and he hardly speaks,he has not yet started telling pa,ma,he tells them only when i tell him,i mean repeats it that's all,is it okay?he does spings few rhymes, spells goodnight, how do you do etc.i speak to him in kannada and my hubby and in laws speak to him in tulu,so do this lead to delay in his speech?he does respond to what i tell.is it true that boys being very naughty tend to speak little slowly than girls?i'm very worried and i would like to know your views too.bye.

Hi Lakshmi,
I dont knwo if there are detailed studies to support this but i have seen boys generally start speaking later than girls. From what you have written he shows no other problems associated with hearing. Does he watch TV too much? I stay in Tokyo and these days there is a lot of awarness on how much TV watching is good. A lot of kids speak late here..associated to excess TV watching.
Try reading to your son, engaging hin in activities which are fun for him, which make him laugh.
a good pastime with my 20 month daughter is i say to her \";sara say XXX\"; and when she says that we both laugh aloud. My kiddo just loves it and i have been making her say a lot of words like that.

Hope that helps!

Hello Everyone

Our 28 months old boy is not speaking simple 2 or 3 word sentences yet. He speaks a few words such as mama, papa, aunty etc but definitely not more than 10. Also, he doesn't understand slightly longer sentences, even when we speak slowly and enact it such as "we'll go out after we eat". Otherwise, he appears perfectly normal. Hi All,

My son is less than 4 and has been diagnosed to be on the autism spectrum. He is non-verbal. We are taking him for OT and ABA/speech therapy.

Meanwhile, I read about an Ayurvedic hospital called Kerala Samajam hospital in Shoranur. Has anyone gone there for treatment? Any reviews?

Hints for Nursing
Babies eat and eat and eat. Although nature has done a pretty good job of providing you and your baby with the right equipment, in the beginning it's almost guaranteed to be harder than you expected. From sore nipples to tough latch-ons, nursing can seem overwhelming.
