Hi Hetal!
Thanks very much for all the help ful tips you have given me already, you mentioned you had posted the recipe for ragi porridge, if you could forward the link that would be helpful.

I would also like to ask you, at the last weight check Anoushcka weighed 9 kilos, which was 2 weeks ago, and since her birth weight was 2.5 kilos, which then means she should have tripled her birth weight and since she has already crossed that, would she be considerd uunderweight.
She is extremely active and has reached her developmental milestones well before time.
She eats ok, although not great quantities, she's open to trying new things.

Please do advise.

Subject:  Great site!

i'm quite relieved that she isn't under weight, you know my doc also has never made a fuss about her weight, as she says she's growing at a normal rate, plus every child follows it own growth rate according to a lot of conditions of family history, food, environment etc.
Actually as a child till about age 15 i used to be quite a skinny person myself, it was only after i joined college that i gained weight.
I'm a commercial artist and had to work late hours at work and then lost weight again and after mother hood its back again, but i've never been very fat ! so i guess after a point it should settle down.
My doc always says, healthy babies come in all shapes and sizes and they don't follow any pediatric books so let them just be, and they'll be fine let them enjoy their time.
Hey, and i tried visiting the nandyala site you mentioned its rreally nice too.
So what do you do by profession? and what have you named your little girl?

warm regards
Smits

Subject:  smits,i guess your baby is 15months.

upto 1 year, your baby growth is checked on monthly basis,, this rapid growth that occurs in infancy(upto12months) slows down from 1 year to 2 year and then its measured on yearly basis.
physical growth doesnt increase steadily after 1year.
one of the main reasons is apetite typically decreases during this stage and at the same time, baby is cruising around and also his body fat steadily decreases.but at the same time, this is the phase where your child will gain MUSCLE TONE..
according to toddler index calculater, its expected that an average 15-month-old girl (with birthweight 3kgs)weighs about 22 pounds (around 10 kilograms)..
however in your case, since your baby was 2.5 kgs, your baby at 9kgs is good and not a worry.
it also depends alot on parents muscle tone that baby has taken as a family gift :)
now onn you will be checking his weight yearly basis and not montly basis..however, just make sure that she is reducing her weight further,,but maintaining steady weight atleast.by the end of 1 year, her weight is expected to increase 1-2kgs.and not more.
also, expect your child to be a picky eater. check my post to rajesh and anu,,their both kids are more or less of your baby age..some tips that i might have missed in yours..try change in textures,,and include varieties.
go for mini meals if your child is not showing in eating less quantities per meal.

try nandyala dot org for great raagi flour recipes.i have tried all and they came out great for my baby. you can add or deduct the amt of water in its malt, and other recipes except dosas,,in all of them depending on the consistency your baby likes.
