kesha replied. shyama, thanks for sharing a wonderful information about all these in details.
i am sorry surekha i will have to disagree with you.
i too was in myth that cheese gives good complexion. i used to give my baby alot of cheese but he has not changed his colour abit.i see him becoming chuby and i was very happy because people give compliments for that.but he has become heavy.my dr said i have to control on his fatty foods like cheese, potato, ghee and now he adviced 2% milk and not the whole milk during his weaning. he is 13months and is not able to walk or stand with support.his legs bends when he tries to do that.he is 27pounds at 13months and i blame it on cheese & ghee.
i agree to what you said about skin colour.it depends on parents.
shyama replied. giving cheese doesnt make skin fair.for your kind info.
my ped already cleared that myth.
i had alot of cheese during my 3rd pregnancy with that myth but i became fat and my baby was the colour of me and my dh.he is 20months now and even though with lots of cheese in his diet from his 9months onwards, his skin is same.and its not only case with me but many who were living with this myth.this was my practical experience with cheese.
so please dont advice these kind of things. giving cheese to 4months is not recommended by drs in US.i have travelled and stayed in 4 countries. none of their foods has this. please do not misguide people.
what you are giving is a side dish in US but babies are not given that before 9months.i know it because i am in US past 15 years. the dish you are talking about is called mashed potato cheese pot.most americans eat as side with chicken or turkey and its also available with kfc meals.
it is good that you are giving your baby high fat food and your baby is able to digest it. but dont consider that its safe for babies at 4months.
my dr stricly recommended not to give cheese, cows milk before 9months.
whatever you suggested will put on weight, i do not doubt it. but that weight will not be a good healthy body instead it will be a fatty chubby body that gets tired very often.my second child loves and eats mostly potato pot and i know how much he is healthy. his immune is weakest of all my kids. i am always worried for him.he gets tired more often than my other kids do.
i have 4 kids and my lifestyle is mostly US style.so i am confident about this.
otherwise drs in US are not mad to recommend cheese after 9months and cows milk after 1 year.
for your information, you will never find potato in gerber baby food or any other baby food brand.but you will find that in the graduate toddlers foods and one of those mixed vegetable puree pack. other than that, potato is not considered healthy thats y its a simple explanation that its not good for babies.you will find geenbeans, peas, carrots, spinach and in some brands lentils with brocooli,,apples, pears, peaches, prunes, almost all fruits. and in toddler section, there is only 1 dish with potato, mashed potato with chicken and mashed potato with vegetables, cheese brocolli, cheese pasta, macroni all in toddler section. toddler is someone who is 1 year old.
also, if you notice, you will find a seperate pack for sweet potato right from introducing solids that is gerber stage 1 foods.but no potato. so i strictly see it as a reason why is that.
i am a silent reader of this site. i have never replied here.i felt this was misguiding so i made my login and i replied. i am telling all this because of my experience with my 4 kids. But i am sure there are better people here who can explain it in a better way.so do correct me if i am wrong.
Kind Regards,
Shyama.
