hi!
my son is 11months old.he takes the food in the form of liqiuds only. i give him veggie soup...well blended, mashed banana, mango shake, banana shake, corn flakes in milk well grinded, custard, bread soaked in milk that too properly blended as lumps of bread he cannot take inside, then biscuits in milk, curd.
dalia he dosen't take, because it has granules, suji kheer again he cannot take inside.his throat seems to get choked and he vomits. I want to give him cheese, boiled potatoes but how should I ? I have tried many times... but all in vain.
His teething has not started yet.
Plz advice me how should i introduce solid form of food to my baby.

Hetal replied. hi, some babies show less interest in solid textured foods. keep trying..nothin much we can do.
if i were you, i would not worry as far as my baby is eating good and is at desired weight acc to his birth weight or my dr is happy with his growth.but i would keep trying.
babies develop taste, textures differently,,,also it has a little thing to do with teething as well & some lil thing to do with mouth and tongue muscle coordination... ..
if your baby tongue muscles are not strong enough to swap the food inside his mouth and nor his gums are ready to chew the overcooked or lumpier texture, then its quite possible that he might take time in accepting solid textured foods..
surprisingly, some kids as big as 1 year olds also have not shown interest in finger foods or lumpier foods/solids even though they had all their front teeth. its just their tongue and mouth muscles are not ready enough to swap food in their mouth, resulting to cause choking or like you said vomits.
keep offering and ask your dr about it, at your next appointment.he might want to check his gums by 1 year,he should be having a lil sign of teething,,or latest by 16months ! or else he might prescribe you for some calcium suppliments or he might be ready to wait until 15months to start them.
try offering a very little lump with finger feeding(watever sticks on finger),,see if that works for you.also, sometimes granules are not liked by kids, as they have to chew...
how about overcooking them to the extent they dont require ne chewing at all,and are very very soft and and very mushy..
also, with ne lumpier foods, your baby might need a dry lump like overcooked potato piece,, then a wet lump like bread or roti soaked in dal..
try offering that,,c if he eats that,,then he needs some practise to learn to eat wet lumps as wet lumps requires sucking juices from the lumps and chewing both at the same time ! its big thing for kids to learn....
also note that in first lessons of teaching your baby to eat, there is always possibility of little choking or little spitting..your baby has to learn eventually.i dont say force him,but keep trying once a while.esp when he is badly hungry..when hunger strikes, babies show interest in everything you offer...
for cheese, its difficult to offer in liquid form, as its sticky and often babies dont like sticky liquid esp if the baby is not used to lumpier foods.
there are these cheese crumbles of sharp cheddar,,keep a couple of them for a while out of fridge, once soft and mushy, give that your baby with your hands or if your baby wants to experiment playing and eating, help him to eat that.
keep trying, and try to offer overcooked food,,might help.
keep trying,,,Good Luck
