Hello Archie,

I have a basic question. Could you please tell me ..how many times horomones assessment needed to be done to figure out the problem if there's any? I mean...If someone has a minor problem ( i.e low progesterone or some other hormone imbalance) will the doctor be able to figure it out if she does the blood work in one cycle (i,e one month)...or does she need to do the bloodwork repeatedly for a couple of months to find out?

Thanks R replied. Well i had gone through the hormone test while TTC during the second day of my periods mostly to check the Prolactin and the Thyroid Levels ...Also the FSH and LSH were tested hopingfortejas replied. Hey,

from my personal experience , i would say it is not easy to find it out in 1 month , except maybe if some hormone is really excessively high .

Also, the other problem is, hormones depend on each other , so it is kind of difficult to find out what exactly is happening.
and the other thing is timing, it is ideal to see the level of the hormones at certain point in the cycle, for e.g prolactin at the begining of the cycle, progesterone after ovualtion and so on ..

So my take is it would take atleast 2-3 cycles for the doctor to get hold of the problem, and in my case now i am on treatment for the past 3 months , however i will know if the treatment is actually curing the problem only next month ....
