My mil shows diff between me & her daughter(I know we shouldn't expect mothers love from mil), I am talking in the sense of money, care etc.she collects the money from her sons(one of them is my husband), & gives it to her daughter.she takes money from sons, saying that , she needs the money for daily expenses. if my hubby asks for calculation, she will start cry. she will not allow my hubby to buy anything for me, when ever she is around.is it common in every house like this?.even she shows differnce between my child & her daughters child.how to deal with this prob?. god bless replied. Hi Saritha. Sorry to hear about the situation with your mil, it is really sad specially that she favours her daughters kids to ur kid, afterall ur kid is related to her by blood too. About situation in other household, well, my mil is widow and my husband is the only child, yet she gets insecure and shows preference to her younger brother and kids more than her own son and child.
My friend who has a sister in law too has the exact situation at home, her married sil gets all the attention from mil and her mil favours her daughters' kids to my friends' son. My friend works though so it helps her to have a life of her own. As for the emotional need, I don't think ur mil will provide u that, so the sooner u accept that the better u will be coping with that aspect.
As for ur hubby not buying anything for u when she is about, don't take to heart, ur hubby would love to get u things all the time, so don't let mil come between u and ur hubby. What I suggest is u ask hubby for spending money and buy what u like urself and show it to him and say thank you for getting it for me! he'll be happy to see u happy and mil don't need to know of the arrangement so she will not interefere.
