Due Date Club November 2003:Pineapples during pregnancy

Name: Avi

Hey Guys, I just heard today that eating pineapples during pregnancy can lead to miscarriage/preterm labor.

I've been eating pineapples for a while now. :(

Anyone out there with any input on this subject?????

Hi Avi,

I have also heard all these types of things so I am just simply avoiding them..why to take risk..we have so many options out there.

I think you should also stop eating it for couple of months..there is no harm in doing that..

Take care

Thanks for the input Siddhi, you were right.

My doc says that the preterm labor/miscarriage causing part of having pineapples during pregnancy is false. Pineapples, she says have a larger amounts of certain acids that can cause heart burn and certain stomach irrirations....

No more pineapples for me, just to be on the safe side

Hi Avi,

Good thing u decided not to have any more pineapples. I don't know the reason why, but after I lost my 1st baby 2 yrs back in less than 10 weeks, 1st thing most of all the old ladies would ask me was did u have any pineapples or papaya. "cos these 2 are known to cause early m/c and i would not suggest anyone to have those for the entire term. To be on a safer side. Docs might say it is okay to have it in small qty, as these are not proven facts. But why take a chance, when there is even a slightest possibility.

So enjoy on other fruits for the time being.

Take care and best regards/ Nikita.

Hey Avi,
Even I had heard that eating pineapples can lead to m/c because its known to increase the body temperature which can be harmful for the baby. But if you have crossed the risky period..ie intial 12 weeks tenure during which the foetus is too delicate to variating temp differences..., it should be okay to eat it once in a while but make sure u drink lots of water and buttermilk.
Hope this helps!
Take care,
Siddhi

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
