Hi friends, I am currently residing in US & am 24 weeks pregnant and was told by the doctor today that I have to get my rhogam shot( I am rh negative) by end of august. But I am planning to go to India by the first week of september so I thought I will get my shots there itself before my 30th week. Will this delay pose any danger to my baby since the doc has asked me to take the shots by 28th week. I am very confused whether to take the shots here or in India? Has anyone taken this shot by the 30th week? Is it very risky to delay it for more than 28 weeks? It would be great if someone could advise me what to do. Thanks!!!

Hey Siddhi, If I am not mistaken, your Rhesus type being negative will effect the baby (if he/she is rhesus positive)only during delivery (normal or preterm)but if you doctor insists that you get the shots by your 28th week than you should follow her advise (in my humble opinion).

Talking to her about the necessity of you keeping your travel plans and going from there is what I would do.

Sorry for not being much of a help, but thought I would put my 2 cents in on the matter

Hey Avi, Thanks for replying so soon. I really appreciate ur concern.Actually I had a m/c last year, but they didnt find any antibodies in my blood & so just to be on the safer side, my doc has advised me to go for this shot. Even I feel that I should heed to what the doctor says and take the shots within the given time. Anyways thanks a lot for ur concern. Hope you are enjoying ur preggy status:-)!!!
