Health Issues:Travelling with a month old baby by flight?

Name: Pratima I need to travel with my one month old baby girl.. How safe is it to fly (2.5 hrs) with the baby ? The doctor has told us that it is fine and a pacifier will help, but if any of you have any similar experience or can give any insights into air travel with infants, it will really help me a lot.

Hi pratima,

I traveled with my 8month old to INDIA. I was also scared by hearing the stories about take off and landing. My doctor told me everything will be fine but make sure that the baby is sucking on something to relieve her from the air in the ears. I used pacifier, but you can also give her milk. Do not worry she is only one month old she will be sleeping all the time. And also its only 2.5 hour flight, she will be OK. Make sure you some extra blankets because it will be chilly in the flight. If you are getting a bassinet cover that with your baby blanket and avoid using the blankets on the flight. Babies at this age tend to get more rashes. I think you are breast feeding; otherwise try to carry a small thermo flask with hot water to mix your formula. Flight attendants will also warm up water for your formula. Trust me you will be OK and have a Happy journey.
