hi geetha
upma is a great idea... u can sweeten it or add salt alternatively.. make sure to make in ghee and let the upma be a semi solid paste so that it gets easily digested by the baby.. all the best!

hi, okay to give upma, and kesari bhaat..also at 7months onwards, start introducing rice idli(least possible amt of urad dal),,,,
give tofu after 8months. fish, you can try, make sure to check any reactions if any. best to start fish after 8months.
avoid giving basmati rice to your baby..instead give sona masuri brand of rice, its very light in digestion and also is less gassy compared to basmati. add curry leaves if your baby likes smell !
also try mixed dal khichadi, mix all dal and add rice double amt. keep that mixture ready, instead of putting the pwder to store. whistle your cooker abit more and you will not need any mixie to blend it. add water double amt of mixture in cooker.
give mix vegetable soup, all vegies you introduced, with tadka of curry leaf, jeera pwder, hing, and let it whistle. while giving soup, offer with rice, or cereal or upma too.
mix vegie rolls, mix all veges, add in salt, add in crushed corainderr leaves, some jeera pwder, some hing, and 2 drops of lemon in whole batch, and make rolls out of it, let your baby play with it.
you can introduce single grain pastas(barley pasta, rice pasta, oatflour pastas, all available in speciality stores and some times in walmart too) at 7months, cook pasta in pressure cooker with good water, with 5-6 whistle, with a dash of oil or ghee, some salt, some italian sseasoning and your baby fav vegies,,,mesh them with hand or fork if your baby has not graduated to finger foods, and is great to start introducing finger foods.
give fruit khichadi, mooong dal, rice, apple, pear, banana, dash of cardamom, and 1 soaked raisin(u can remove raisin after the khichdi is done),,and whistle it to 5-6 and good to go..
hope this gave you some idea !
good luck

Hey rose ,

Happy to know that ur baby also 7 months , baby boy or girl mine is boy , i got this recipe from oct2005 board , recipe : wash 1 cup of uncooked basmati rice and dry it and then roast with 1/2 cup of moong dal with 1/2 tsp of jeera ( until looks golden color) .. Then u have to grind it .. add 1 cup of water then put 2 tsp of the grind powder and then cook for abt 5-7 min that's it ... u can add any boiled vegie to this ...

Hey rose i have a question to ask you , ur baby can sit unsupported or still sitting with ur help , mine he cant sit unsupported till now ( he can sit for 5-10min then fall ) badly wanted to see him sitting like us :), really worrying me , his dr said there's no probs but still as a mom im so tensed up! So how many times do u give solids to ur baby and what are u giving ?
