hi all,i was wondering if anyone else has a very active baby and what you do to keep them entertained while at home? My 12 month old is totally full on - sleeps twice a day (but his each nap is only for ann hour or one and a half hour at the most), wakes 2 3 times at night and wants to play whole day! Every day I make sure we are out doing something - because he gets really bored playing at home. Not interested in his toys at all and just runs (he started walking when he was 8 months old)around the house picking up and throwing everything he can see. I want to try and calm him down a bit so that once a day we do something interactive yet educational together. (Reading books is a no go because he wont sit still!) Would be interested to know what other people do with their babies of a similar age. I still breastfeed him and def. its no less than a gymnastic.I never force feed him, and try my best to not make it a gymnastic however at times its very tiring, the moment he gets an opportunity he tries to convert breasfeeding in a real gymnastics. Yes he is exhausting but loads of fun when I have the energy! i find it difficult to keep up with him. Is there anyone else who has a similar child and what do you do to keep him involved.

Disha replied. Hi Ruchita ,
I have a son. he is 10 months now..walking and he walks pretty fast and loves playing . He is exactly like ur son. He wont sit in one place even when i read to him. His attention is also diverted even when we talk to him. He is too much involved in playing. Even BF to him is a big task as he never lies down ..he keeps moving his legs downor tries drinking in standing position...haha what not.
I usually play catch me games, hideand seek, peekaboo with a pillow, with a ball etc..but its very tiring for me.
My son also wakes up 2-3 times..and for sleeping back he wants to be breast fed. I do it in sleeping position.
Hetal replied. hi, wats his total sleeping time in 24 hours.
by 1 year, babies show all that you said,,also you will notice that his sleeping time will reduce further.
but wats making me wonder is why does he wake up at 2-3 times ? do i assume that he is having light sleep or disturbed sleep ?
not good for babies. or adults either, if so.
my baby was kind of declared hyperactive as early as her age of 6months,,,when i was reading your message,,i feel as if you are writing all that i might have complained in past :))
now the games to play,,lots of em,,catch me if you can, peekaboo, run the race, catch the ball, go for walk, these days, teaching her to climb stairs without support or crawling.,,my dd is a monkey brand :)),,making the winnie pooh sleep :)),,she has somehow likes..
making her stuffed toys to sleep.
you can read his books before him,,no prob if he doesnt listen, but looking to your interest in the books, and those colour in the books, he will come to you and peep and go away,,slowly make him sit and one day he will surely come and sit ! my dd took 2 months to come to me to sit with me,,now she comes to me with the books she wants me to read for her..sometimesifnothing she just wants to see the pictures,,so let baby enjoy that,,and in that teach the colours and stuffs like that !
babies often get into more of cruising activities once they learn to walk,,so do that,,entertain them with dance,,teach them to do so,,..there are nice songs available and alot of ideas on nick jr tv channel...
my baby dances with backyardigans and i sit and watch her :)),,and its a good exercise,,they learn to control their body parts, their crusiing and balancing skills..
its not that they need to understand wats goin on in Tv or wats the music,,but the melody of music does the magic..
so njoy and good luck and be happy that your baby is lively !
hope this gave you some idea !
