madhuri reddy replied. hi, at 6months it is not at all advisable to give tamarind.please note.
tamarind is said to retard growth in baby muscles and bone joints.a little is also not advised by dr.
i am a south indian & so is my dr.my dr is 55years old cardiac and orthopedic specialist for infants.
he has recommended not to give tamarind at all until baby has learnt to walk and is ready for all spices.
also, green chillies is strictly not allowed for babies below 1 year.
ask your dr before giving such spicy and sour foods.
console replied. As minka has suggested i used to give just like that, but after 8 or 10 months you can stop it processing in blender and mash it really well with your fingers.
you can try spinach dhal.
just pressure cook dhal, diced onion tomato, greenchillil if desired, little tamarind, and few cloves of garlic and when the pressure goes of add washed and cut spinach leaves and close the cooker for few minutes but dont switch on the stove, then mash everything really well and add salt, you can garnish with mustard and cumin seeds, then give this with rice to your baby.
you can try ragi kangi it has lots of viatmins, iron and fibre.
buy then whole ragi.
then soak it for atleast 6 hours
then grind it coarsly
then strain it in tea strainer
then cook it in medium flame
keep water by your side you you can add it little by little till desired consistancy.you should cook it till it is silky and bubly
then add ghee, salt or sugar and feed yur baby
then whole cooking process takes only 5 minutes.
ok then if you need any more detail surely inform me.if i know i will surely tell you.take care.give my kisses to your little one.
Minka replied. Hi
We basically just followed the same recipe with sme changes to the dals and veggies daily
I pressure cooked rice, a lil dal, veggies ( peeled and deseeded tomato, carrot, pumpkin, beans, peas, potato, sweet potato, cabbage, cauliflower etc - add diff combination everyday ) with a lil sal, haldi, jeera powder. I also made some powder with dried kadipatta ( good iron content ) . After cokking , mash in mixie, add ghee and warm a lil. You can give it and also give some curd in between if your baby has started on curd.
My son loves this.
