Hetal replied. hi,there are test for any allergies, rashes, that drs conducts only if they feel its neccessary to do so. they do it only when they see your baby...so let dr take care of it :)
good luck
Aarti replied. For my son it was related to seasonal changes in humidity. When the heater was cranked up high (dryness) it would shoot up. It would completely clear up in humid places like Chennai or LA. So now, in winter as per doc's suggestion we keep the heater really low and bundle him up in SEVERAL layers. It is so much better. It seems to get better with age too.
You can certainly perform allergy testing but my ped believes that the results are valid only after age 3. Also, docs usually recommend it if the child's condition is severe. I have been allergy tested myself (20 or so pin pricks!) and am sure it will be traumatic for a child. So unless it is very severe docs will try to avoid allergy testing.
Hope this helps. Aarti
Aarti replied. Hi P,
While it is considered ok to start yolk before 12 months, it is not recommended to start egg white until baby turns one. The egg white is a potent allergen for some kids.
I started yolk only at 12 months and whole egg after 16 months for my son. He also has mild eczema but his condition is unrelated to food. His is related to the atmosphere.
As Hetal said, get your doctor's opinion. Where are you located? For many Indian kids in the US their eczema is not related to food, but you cannot assume it's the case for your son.
Ofcourse, you will never know until your try. I suggest you wait till he 16-18 months to start whole egg. After talking to your doctor, you can start with the yolk after he turns one. Try only tiny bits at first.
As always the rule of thumb to start a new food - give it atleast three days in a row to check for allergic reaction. If there is an adverse reaction on the first day itself, just stop it. Also, start any new foods in the daytime so that there is time to observe the results before baby sleeps.
DEFINITELY check with your doctor. I am a nutritionist but not yet state certified!

when it comes to any signs of rashes, eczema, discomforts, talk to your dr before giving any doubtful foods like eggs, fish, meat, cheese, nuts and couple others...
your dr knows whats best for your baby,,
you dont know how baby who already has shown mild eczema is goin to react when it comes cheese (high fat, high calcium) and eggs (high protein).
good luck,
