Feeding:Whether to give cerelac or home made stuff

Name: Aarya My baby is 3.5 months old.I heard we need to start solids by the 4th month.So I would just like to know whether I should give her nestle's cerelac or some homemade food.I'm a working mother.Presently I'm feeding her lactogen.Please let me know.

No problem

HI aarya,

there is no problem at all in giving cows milk and lactogen simultaneously. Some mothers breast feed their children and use lactogen also, thats what i used to do, so dont worry at all. Any combination is fine as long as u use milk.

Hi Aarya,

What u said about cows milk is really true. My child was born in India and i started giving him cows milk when he was 4-5 months old as thats what the doctor suggested me. When i came here and i told the doctor that i started with cows milk when my son was 5 months old, the doctor was simply zapped. Here no child is recommended to drink cows milk upto 1 year old.

Then the doc looked at me and said "Oh u have come from India right" I guess he meant to say everything and anything is possible in India. I got bugged on his comment but what he said did make sense.

So basically i can suggest dont start with cows milk so soon, wait for some more time.

Hi PA,
Its really sweet of u to reply to my queries.I'm also feeding saumya lactogen and breast milk simultaneously.But i somehow don't want to give her cow milk.So instead of nestum rice ,i'll give her rice cereal only as it already contains milk.
Please let me know ur comments.

tin food or home made food

Hi again Aarya,

Actually i also have given my son both tin food and even fresh food, there is no harm at all because convenience is the most imp thing for a working mother. I live abroad and here people prefer tin food. In India people dont prefer to use tin food as it is very expensive. Fresh food is the best but tin food for one feed a day is no problem at all.

one more problem!!

Hello,
thanks for ur reply.but i've one more problem now.I give her lactogen.yesterday when i went to the dr she said I can start of with nestle's nastum rice.but u need to mix milk with it.she told me not to mix lactogen as it will be too heavy.but she also said first just try cow milk for a few days and then add rice to it.now problem is can i give lactogen and cow milk simulateously?

Hi,

Cerelac is the best for the child from 4-6 months as it is easy to digest and u get different flavours. You can obviously give ur child some home made food also like dal and rice water etc but as u r a working mother tin food will be useful for you.
