Dear friends
I saw the msg posted by anu and the replies for her.
I have twin boys who are 10 months old. I just give them ragi in morning, a gerber or beechnut fruit in the afternoon, and blend rice dhal and a gerber vegetable and give them for dinner...remaining time they are on my breast milk....is this food enough for my babies...after seeing your msgs and replies i 'm thinking that i'm feeding very less for my babies...if i'm wrong in feeding pl. help me...i totally avoided ghee or butter since they get cold due to it...i tested for it and they catch cold...now their weight is 18 pounds and 17.3 pounds for 10 months..i know its not enough...doc. said let them grow at their own pace...i'm worried about the weight..after seeing your chart..god i'm not feeding them properly friends...pl. give me a good food chart for my babies to feed and let them be strong and healthy...pl. tell me how to make khicadi and any recipe from rawa and ragi...pl. also tell me any fatty food for them...
thanks so much in advance...btw is there anyone from nj...if so pl. tell me..so that we can talk over phone or send mails...
my other problem is if i feed them more soilds they become full and refuse to drink breastmilk...then that becomes a problem...i want to feed them breastmilk atleast for a year...by gods grace...
so pl. suggest me any good recipe, food chart friends...
thanks and take care
regards
barathy

hi bharathy,

Myself Ritu. i live in MA. so if u want to write emails or talk to me on phone then no problem, just send a reply to this mail n also include ur email id so that i can write to u. as far as ghee n buter r concerned i give my kids(2 boys) enough ghee n butter n so far they hv shown no signs of cold. babies n toddlers need a lot of fat so dont hesitate to put a spoonful of ghee in their khichdi or even in their rice cereal. u cld give them icecream n cheese slices n cld prepare egg in butter. also c to it that they r eating fruits veggies n protein in their diet.

keep in touch,
Ritz

Hi Barathy,
I think their weight is quite decent, don't you worry. My daughter is 10months old and she weighs 8.7kgs which is very good. You can add little ghee in their khichdi, avoid butter as it has more sodium content. Give them home made paneer, don't throw the remaining water it's high in protein, which can be given to them. Paneer can be added to khichdi.
For breakfast, you can make dalia / rawa with milk, jaggery and few almonds, it's very nutritiuos and they will love the taste.
You can try thick soups for dinner. Try with carrots, peas, broccoli & beans, add half tea spoon of dalia, pressure cook well and grind it. They'll love it.

Don't worry, they seem to be healthy babies. At this stage the weight gaining processs normally slows down.
You are doing a good job, taking care of two little boys.
Cheers!
Love....Shyameli

I will write more later since it is late at night now. I am well aware of the belief of ghee and milk products causing cold. But young kids need a little fat and a small amount of ghee is not going to produce colds. Please go ahead and give a small pinch of ghee along with their rice or kichidi.
