Hi Roopa,
I agree with all that Arti has said. Though I dont give her bath, just give her sponge bath. Apart from these, I make garlic oil (fry garlic in mustard oil), and whenever my baby goes to sleep, I warm it, apply it on her chest and keep her chest warm and covered. This is good for chest congestion. Also I give ginger juice and honey to her. There is this homeopathic medicine called 'Aconite' which is also good in controlling cold, fever etc.. Giving lots of water (little warm) also helps.
take care,
Bhairavi.

Hi Roopa,
This is what I have learnt from experience and from friends. Here is what all i do when I see the first sign of cold.
bring the kid at home (keeping a day or two at home won't hurt but if it escalates then it may take weeks to recover), get a vaporizer and liquid vicks. Add a bit less than directed to the water in vaporizer, turn it on and let your kid be in that room, playing, sleeping as much as possible. Dress her lightly so she won't sweat. This is to make her feel better.

Give her bath everyday. I tend to think that if the kid is having cold we shouldn't bath them but thats a false assumption I realized. Bath her with warm water ( I usually make it a bit more warm than usual when Arjun has cold). After bath, pat dry her body and hair immediately, use hair dryer from a 20-21 inch distance and blow dry her with hot air, blow dry her ears too from a 20 inch distance, remember mainataining a proper distance otherwise her ear may hurt due to the air flow. Turn on the vaporizer and let her sleep with vicks vaporub on her clothes.

Add very little, ( very little means really very little) turmeric and dry ginger powder in milk, milk should be slightly pale and not yellow and make her drink that, if she doesn't like the taste, add 1/2 tsp sugar ( Arjun doesn't even realize we added turmeric so we haven't have to add sugar). make her drink that while her cold lasts, she'll not get cough I promise.
When you are using this turmeric with milk thing then make sure you increase her water intake too as turmeric and garlic increases body heat. Forgot to mention that you can use garlic as seasoning in her food in the winter months and make her drink enough water, juices (specially mausambi, stawberry, and apple) etc.

Give her warm squash and carrot soups, tomatoes are great too.

Keep her head elevated when she sleeps or otherwise too so that she will not catch ear infection due to the cold.

Hope, this will help. Take care

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
