Due Date Club July 2005:Hetal-Nikku's update

Hi Hetal, just checked IP after many days and saw your message.. Thanks for asking abt Nikku.

We had gone to the dr on Sat, He checked her and didnt find anything wrong, and told to wait for some days and see. After that she didnt vomit from that day onwards, but she started having light colored potty.. I was kind of scared to see that, as for 4-5 days she had clay-colored potty. Dr told to stop cows milk and give her soy milk, and after doing so, her potty became better. Now since Tuesday her potty became fine, but she caught cold. Now she is having lot of cough and cold and fever too. Meanwhile we had her bloodwork done on Tue as dr told, and waiting its results today.. lets see.. So for the last 2 weeks she is having one problem after another, and it feels really sad to see her go through it. But as Arti said this is a part of motherhood. Sorry to know abt Arjun and Laya.. I hope all kids get well soon..

Meanwhile, I was just wondering, at what axillary temp shud I give tylenol. I give Nikku tylenol as soon as she reaches 99.5 axi temp, is that fine?

chalo bye for now,
take care,
Bhairavi.

wat her updates now..
gen speaking,,ne temperature that is above 100, needs a medication..
most often if you notice the body temperature keeps changing like usually a lil lower in morning and lil higher in evening,,can fluctuate further as the kids run around, play, get overexcited...during ths period someeteimes the body temp goes to 99 and reduces once the child settles..
sometimes you will see thr body will become very cold..its all normal.

at 99.5 axi temp, its fine to give half thn recmnded dosage of tylnol..rather i try other things that i often do with nirja whnver i doubt that she is having fever,,,
give her sponge bath with some baby colonge, dress her light, calm her or settle her with some story book, give her room temp water to drink,,,,see if that reduces temp.,,keep his feet warm, chest coverred,,with a lil rub of baby vicks..it often helps in reducing the normal mild fever without usage of ne medicn...
and above all, medications like ibuprofen, acetaminophen r gvn only when you think that the temp is not reducng,,,that too only after your child regains normal or settling position after prolong time of playtime or say she is really fussy without ne unseen reason..thn its bettr to give it.
unnecsry dosage of ne of these medication causes liver damage in long run,,causing indigestion and such prob in normal routines,,so avoid that.

take care, hope this helps !
hope nikku recovers well..do let me knw the results of test...

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
