we have been trying to have a kid for the last 2 years. my gynac conducted a few tests and now suggested i c a infertility specialist as all the test she did basically were ok - the post coital and the hormones - progesterone and lh and fsh and thyroid.prolactin was slightly higher , but she said it shudnt be aproblem, i was just wondering what tests are conducted and how many days its going to take?
basically i am just dying to have a kid, i am 33 yrs old and have been married for 3.5 yrs Jaya replied. an IF specialist can do like HSG to know if your tubes are okay....and also did your husband do a semen analysis? (sorry if this question is sensitive....) hopingfortejas replied. Actually that is a very difficult Q to answer , i think it is more tailored according to the patient needs.
I started going to my RE from last cycle, she did a battery of tests in the early part of my cycle to see if things for ovualtion is fine and then after ovualtion to see if progesterone and al are fine.

i think that the main difference is that RE knows and tries to solve the problem ( adjust the hormones - atleast in my case , since i have PCOS...) but the gynec tries to just get us pregnant.

Specially if it is unexplained infertility, i think infertility specailst is a good bet...
