Feeding:Quantity of food

Hello

My son is 8 months old and has started to have solid foods. we give him Rice Cereals(Nestle), blended rice with veggies in it , biscuits soaked in similac .
but whenever we give him Wheat cereals he gets constipation. has anybody encountered the same problem. the day we stopped giving wheat he feels fine in passing stools. we have stopped giving him wheat cereals. another thing how much quantity of cooked rice with veggies has to be given to a 8 month baby. 2 teaspoons or more. to be honest we give 4 but after taking 2 he gets disturbed and sways his head for no more. is that amount of food sufficient for him.
i would appreciate dif some one tells me exactly the amount of food to be given ( i know that it would be +/- here and there..thats fine)

Thanks

Hi,
Wheat is one of the foods most likely to cause allergies in babies. If during those few days you find an unexplained skin rash or diarrhea that food may be the culprit and you will want to avoid it for awhile. Use this procedure to detect an allergy to wheat. If you do discover an allergic reaction to a food, do not avoid that food forever, but rather, try reintroducing it again a few months later to determine if the allergy has been outgrown.
And reg. the veggies its good that u r giving him veggies.I think u can slowly start increasing from 4 to 6 spoons ,not in a single day.and increase gradually.try when he is really hungry may be he'll eat more.each week u can introduce a new vegetable and see if he has any allergy.then slowly u can mix all veggies. u can add a little ghee for taste in it or with some dal water.
And reg Biscuits I'm really not sure, but when my i asked my paed. he said to wait till he is 2 yrs old.Even I have been giving him but stopped when i knew it.Usually they contain salt and sugar which r not good for babies under 1yr.also the additives and agents r there.SO u can check the ingredients before buying the biscuits.which has less salt percentage.or u can try some homemade biscuits or organic biscuits which u can get in market.
take care

Hello Smitha

Thanks for your advice. Well we have been giving him Farley's Baby biscuits which was adviced by our Paed. in AUH. To be frank he likes them th emost and he opens his mouth for that without any trouble. I will try to follow your advice in regards the rice and veggie stuff. one more thing is it good to add ghee to th erice at this age of 8th month.

Thanks
Take Care
