I would like to know from people wh have used IUD and have faced a weight loss? I am having back pain and knee pains which worsens as the day progresses. also i have lost 4-5 Kgs in last 1 month. I had my IUD when my daughter was 3.5 mth old. now she is 1.5 yr old. i had other problems of heavy bleeding for almost 6 mths, consulted Gynac, taken medicines ..just wanted to know if anyone had some similar problems and can share their experiences? Also a better contraceptive alternative Deepa replied. I've had the copper IUD for 2 years now, I got it inserted when my 2nd born was 6 months old. I have had no problems with it so far. No weight loss because of or any mood swings. For the first 6 months I had longer and heavier periods but they got ok after that and my gyno had warned me about it.

It could be that your body is rejecting the IUD after all it is a foreign object in your body.

The 'Mirena' being a hormonal definitely leads to mood swings because it releases the same hormones as the contraceptive pill. Infact, it is a contraceptive pill inserted into your body so you don't have to remember to take it daily.

I suggest you have it removed but seek the advise of another doctor or even the one you have now. console replied. I think this iud is not suiting you.i had the harmonal one Mirena.a year back.the first week was tough.but after that everything was fine.i just have small spotting instead of periods.so ifeel this is really good.no worry about pregnancy for another 5 years.
so please talk to your doctor.if you are not comfortable,then please remove it and go for pills.or you can talk about any other option with her.
dont take your health for granted. an replied. my doctor said if itz hormonal iud it may cause mood swings..but in case of coppert etc it wunt...but i am also facing the same problems but not weight loss..i have put on weight.u wud have lost weight becuz of continuous bleeding..in my case i am having spotting for the past 4 months.and bloody discharge,backpain,leg pain etc..actually now i think why i had gone for iud..but thinking abt accidental pregnancy i am ready to bear anyhting....but bcuz of thiz problem love making iz possible hardly once in 1 month.so i think without iud we may have enjoyed for 5 to 10 days.()infertile days)..
