Hi all ,

I want to start my son on solids. Which brand is best - Nestle / heinz / gerber . I heard gerber being good..but couldnt find it in canada . I am currently giving heinz . Any inputs on this .
Also if any one can tell me about other home made food to start with . how to make dal ka pani ? should we give boiled and mashed veggies or give the vegetable broth ? which dal and how to make raggi fron flour ? etc. Can i start with steamed apple and how to make it and mashed banana..etc..
I am bit confused on all this.

Thanks.

hi disha,

my name is shaana. we are planning to relocate to toronto by march this year. we hv a 15 mnth old son. i was wondering abt raising my child there. i am working here as i hv an excellent support system to look after my child. currently my mother-in-law and maid take care of him during the day.

how old is ur child? do u keep him / her in day care or do u have someone to take care? is it safe to keep small kids in day care as i am planning to work in canada.

really appreciate your response.

thanks

Hi Disha,

Yes you have to steam it... pressure cook the apple and then remove the skin (so that the skin can be removed easily) and smash it or blend it.

You can use moong dal or toor dal..... both are good.

And by the way in which month your baby is.....

Cheers

Padma

Hi Disha,

I also live in canada. You can give nestle or heinz whichever suits ur baby. after the baby is used to rice cereal for a while u can slowly introduce foods as Padma has suggested. Also increase the consistency gradually. Where r u from in canada?

Thanks.

Dear Disha

What is the age of the baby... You can start giving him smashed apple, banana, pears. and start giving him rice cereal.... start with 1 table spoon and gradually increase it to 3 tps. I suggest you can buy Nestle's product.

Pressure cook dal with more quantity of water so that dal becomes a bit smashy. Then filter it and give him the dal pani without adding salt or sugar.

Hope this info is sufficient for you.

All the best.

Padma
