My Father is a heavy drinker ,he is been drinking twice daily from past 30 years ,my mother failed to make him stop drinking , even after having grown up kids my father is not stopping drinking ,we tried many ways but none was of any use ,when we ask him stop drinking he says i am the eldest of the family and am earning so i have all rights to spend the money in the way i want ,he also goes to race court regularly ,never takes care of his business .Because of his behaviour there r constant fights in our home ,My brother wont respect him at all as he always fights with all of us after drinking .Life is like a hell .Can any one suggests us what to do ??? twinkle replied. hi,
we went through the same sitution for years.my father was a big time drunker.i don,t want to go in detail but for us there was no solution. we tried everything anybody said.but nothin worked finally his liver got damage and now he is no more with us.i hope u find some solution for your father.all the best. tinku replied. Same problem even v r going through for the many years. I can understand your situation very well but dont have any solution. My father is also a drunker. V hav tried all possible things but end of the day nothing is working. We took him to the psychiatrist as well. My situation is worsen than you since iam in abroad. v r only two daughters and my younger sis is also getting married soon. i cant even emagine my mothers situation after that since he does physical abuse. My grandfather was a heavy drinker before.my granny tried some alternative medicine(don't know what..)which we saw some add in newspaper, it is not alopathic.we gave him that mixed with his food unknowingly.after that he never touches it.i wish i could remember that name..but you can search in ayurvedic sections. Life has been really sad and unpleasent for your family esp your mother, I have seen drunkard fathers who are big menance to the family, they not only ruin themselves also they ruin the entire family, they don't need a wife and children, I don't how much my solution might work but still you can try, there are de addiction clinics run by NGOs and govt which keeps the addict and slowly get them out of drinking, but i have seen many come back clean after a while resort to more heavier drinking, If your brother can take care of his business and make sure he doesn;t get free money things might work a bit. also try to desert him for a while so that he understand what is the importance of a family,till the time you all ssccumb to his black mail tactics he will continue drinking, but I personally feel you have very little chance to change your father. if you and brother are old enough to settle down independtly, I shud not be saying this but ur case looks that way, ABANDON your father, take your mother with you and slowly you'll get over your past.
