Hi Archie,

I am Rupa...new to this group.Hvnt had a chance to have a conversation with u.But reading the messages that others write to u.....gives me the happy feeling tht u hve answers to everything.

Please help me out....I dont knw if u read the messages i put on the board.

I just want to clear this doubt.I missed my periods this last month.I was supposed to get it on the 28th of August but didnt so i waited and did a test on 9th Septemeber...a HPT at home and it showed positive. Then just few hours later i went to the hospital to do a blood test to confirm it and after an hour when i went to get the result it was negative. Is this possible. Which one should i go by. If its blood test then y did the hPt show positive.

I visited my doc the next day and she told me to wait for another 10 days and do a hpt and find out wht the result is.

Archie, please could you help me out and tell me whts the cause for the negative result and is there any chance tht blood test can be wrong.

blood speaks clear than hpt.
so if you said the blood hcg test came negative you have to wait and repeat hcg.

yes, like karishma said drugs do interfere with it. I rely more on blood report.

Are you cycles regular always? If you answer yes then what difference in feelings or bodywise you have today?

As of what i know, a hpt can show false positive but a blood test cant show false positive.

Yesterday i went to my doc to show my Beta HCG report which was negative. Actually my HPT had come faintly positive. So doc had told me to come back after 5 days. In between this i started spotting. So my doc told to do a Beta HCG which came negative. Then yesterday when i went to my doc, i came to know that since we are on medications for a gud follicle and also on injections for the speedy growth of follicle, generally the endometrium lining thickens and gives us a faintly positive HPT. So the blood test is told to b done which is understood as accurate.

I am telling this after my doctor told about the same. I might not be correct. But i have come to understand it this way.
