Hi I have a 7 month old and when she was 4 months i had started on rice cereal with formula. Slowly after a week, i had introduced her to pears and then apple sauce. What the pediatrician said was that when you try something new for a baby that you always try it continuosly for 4 days then introduce new food. When my baby was 6months old, then i introduced some homemade Lunch & Dinner. My nanny prepares some rice with Dal, carrots, beans. Pressure cook it and grind it and add a 2 - 3 drops of ghee and my baby simply loves it. It's fresh and nutritious. Hope this info helps
