Name: Preeti

Hi all,
I have a baby who is 11 months old now. But their is not much variety in her food items. She only likes dal or khichri or sometimes a little daliya. Her intake quantity is also less. What variety i can bring to her food list. Her teeths have just errupted (only two)!!
Please please help with some good ideas on how to make her inetersted in eating??
Awaiting a reply from all you experienced people.
Thanks!

First thing - search the net for virtually 100s of receipes...whats important is
a) the food should ideally have different textures to interest her - grainy but dry like pounded nuts, flaky & moist like 'poha', grainy paste like khischri, dry paste like ragi porridge and wet paste like cereals/khischri, fresh fruit juices or shakes. Also, make sure they make her 'try' biting & chewing.
b) make sure it tastes well, taste it yourself before you feed her
c) try to balance her diet over the day

This is the right age for finger food like rusks, fried potato fingers, sliced & peeled tomatos or fruits like apple/banana/papaya..let her learn to hold and eat - its ok if she makes a mess!!

Avoid carrots/cucumbers and such finger food which she may bite and get potentially choked on.

Most importantly, consult your paediatrician, and brush her teeth!!!

hi preeti,
Now since yr baby is 11 mons up, u can give her cooked apple pulp, it tastes so good, little spicy mashed potato and carrot along with curd rice, cooked drumstick pulp with less spicy rasam rice, go for mashed bananas and also well soaked cereals in milk, try them , good luck.At first she will refuse to take something new, so try feeding her a spoonful of new food and make her to taste it, bye
