Diet and Exercise:Work During Pregnancy

Hello friends,

I am in the seventeenth month of my pregnancy. I am interested in knowing that whether is it safe to work in front of computer during pregnancy. I work for 8 hrs in front of computer. This demands sitting all the time. But i do take rest in between for an hour. So pls advice

Hi Swetha,

I had baby 10 months back. I work in IT and I worked till the day I delivered baby. I used to drive almost 40-50 miles everyday, and used to work on average 10-12 hours a day in front of computer, some times even more. But I was following some tips from doctor.
1. Drink lot of water.
2. walk for 40-50 feet once in a hour or two. to follow this I used to keep a small bottle of water with me. I used to finish it and used to go fill it again.
3. Have some snack every 2 hours other than main course of food. Never keep yourself hungry.
4. Drink plenty of milk to keep energy levels high.
5. Never neglect prenatals.
6. Keep yourself in cool mood all the time.

I too work in the front of the computer for more than 8 hrs a day...don't think that should be a problem but as advised by my doc, u must exercise regularly - half an hour of walking will do u good...also don't sit in one place for more than 1 hour..leave yr seat , walk about. Also use a small pillow to support your lowere back.

Dear Sweta,
I hope that was a major typo and you are either in seventeenth week or seventh month.

To answer your query, there are no reports saying computer work is bad while pregnant. Therefore continuing work is not a bad option. Talk to your Dr. who will be in a better position to advise on this.
