Hi,
I am almost 7 weeks pregnant now. I have had some saffron in milk consecutively, every morning and night for 2 days. I read that it is harmful to ingest saffron during early pregnancy. Can anybody clarify my doubts? Will the baby be alright? Please reply. Thanks

Hi,
if u r taking saffron only for the complexion of the baby, u can easily take a few peices fresh coconut with mishri first thing every morning.paneer is also suggested. moreover, these are tested and tried remedies. I am taking coconut myself, this is my 1st pregnancy but have seen other successful cases. It would be good to discontinue saffron.

All the best :)

Hi Ranmag,
Congratulations! I'm seven weeks pregnant too. Yeah I too read somewhere that saffron is heaty, so consume in moderation. May be only once a day and just one or two strands. Still, if I were you, I would wait until the magic 12 weeks period to be over, before I consume any heaty foods. Take care.

diet during pregnancy
Maintaining a healthy diet during pregnancy is very important.

During this time, your body needs additional nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

In fact, you may need 350–500 extra calories each day during the second and third trimesters.

A diet lacking in key nutrients may negatively affect the baby’s development.
