Its strange the way children react differently to the first days of school.Having been a teacher myself, may I re-assure you. A child who is given freedom at home often throws his weight around a bit when he gets back from the first days at school. He needs to make a space for himself in school and despite the best teachers handling him, he is bound to have areas of stress. He is used to his parents' guidance, but suddenly realises that there are more people on this planet who tell him what is right and what is not!!! Since he feels more comfortable with you, he takes out his frustration among the familiar surroundings of his home.It just means that he is fighting his own little battle. I would suggest you be as accomodating as possible and get him to talk to you about what he does in school and what the names of his friends and his teacher are. Please DO NOT punish him even with a look. Let him feel that Home is where he can unwind..soon he will use his school as a platform to show his various talents. I have found that children who are mishandled at this delicate stage can show a strain of loneliness both in the schoolroom as well as at home. And please take the teacher into confidence. That can work wonders for your son! Give the mite a hug from me!!!

Some children have this way of expressing their seperation anxiety.
Give some extra time when you are at home with him.Play with him and this phase wil pass soon
Good luck.
