Shy Kids:shy

Hi,
I have a 2 and a half year old son. he is very talkative and naughty at home with the members of the family but when I have guests at home or we visit our relatives he turns very quiet and shy. I’m very much worried because boys of his age are not generally this quiet. Should I consult someone or this is normal? Please help me.

Hi Vidya,
There is nothing to worry about. His behavior is absolutely normal and you should't be worried about it. As he grows up and starts going out making friends or starts preschool or school his personality will develop eventually.

The child is free and open with immediate memebers of the family and exhibits shyness towards unfamiliar people - what is there to worry about this? It is very natural and I don' t think there is any cause for concern here! After all, he is just being well behvaed in front of others. Don' t worry unduly about such things.

yaah parents do sometimes worry about any thing which is not at all big issues. it is very common and as long as he is behaving well don't worry. if he is throwing tantrums and biting anyone then u should have concern and not when he is all good child.

Hi dear,

You need not worry. Its not anything very abnormal. You just need to try and socialize him more. I think
you should put him in a preschool where he can meet kids of his age and mingle with them. This way he
can meet new people and overcome his shyness. My son went to Eurokids International when he was
2years. I had the best experience with them. I’m sure your son will love the environment there.

Regards,
Shashank
