Hey guys,
I have problem with my 5 mth old kid.We live in US.I was breastfeeding and bottle feeding him but mostly breast feeding but in between i couldn't breast feed him for few days and now the milk supply has reduced so much that nowadays he gets frustrated when he goes near the breast. For more milk i am taking fenugreek and i am pumping but still i am not seeing any improvements so pls tell me whether my milk supply will increase or i have to give him only formula hereafterwards.
Becoz i am very interested in giving breast milk pls tell me how to improve it.
Advance thanks

Dear Geetha,

Even i had the same problem.

hear are some remedies :
1) Drink plenty of fluid.
2) Have 2 tbs of staverax powder with milk twice a day. It is a wonderful galactogue.
3) Have a lot of garden cress seeds (falooda seeds)
4) Even bajra porridge or rotla helps a lot.

My Aaryan is 6months old now.

All the best.

Warm regards

hi !
even i have a 3 month old baby and though i didn't have any such problem i still can understand your trouble. my doctor says drink at least 3 glasses of milk and lots and lots of water and juices. basically a lot of liquid and pumping will not encourage formation of milk. sucking will. so encourage your baby to suck ! be patient. try only breastfeeding as only good diet and feeding itself will encourage good milk supply. and also another thing u can do is have roasted jeera. i had that. i don't know if it helped me but u can try ! all the very best ! and do write about your result if u can !

Hello!
I too am breastfeeding and you are taking a good step by taking fenugreek to help increase milk supply. I too have taken it.

What worked for me was to do the following...for a couple of days straight, up your intake of fenugreek; for instance, I take 1 or 2 usually every so many days...when I see my milk supply seeming to drop off, I may take 3 capsules of fenugreek for two days and then, go back down to one.

Put your baby to the breast as often as you can. If you have begun to feed him some solids, be sure to give him the breast first...first before offering any solids. He will drink more.

Also, make sure you drink plenty of fluids, especially water...that does help the milk supply.

Oh, and if possible nurse you baby once or twice in the night, if possible. If not, be sure to at least nurse him as late in the night before bedtime and first thing in the morning.

My little one is going to be 4 months old in a couple of days.

Best Wishes!
