Hi Anu & Komal,

Your messages are really useful & informative for me...because as I said earlier that I too was diagonsed with the positive TB skin test but negative chest x-ray....I don't know whether I should start medication or not...I mean even the thought of waiting for another 9 months is hurting me...but on the other hand I understand it is necessary to rule out any doubts ... everyone says here that Indians usually get a positive skin test although they don't have TB and this is beacuse of the BCG vaccination.

Anu- when you were asked to start the treatment, did they check whether you actually had TB or not? Or was it just on the basis of the positive skin test? Did they do some other tests before starting medication and giving you high doses for treating TB ? Based on what I know....a positive TB skin test doesn't not prove that the person actually has TB.I would really appreciate if you can write in details about your experience...beacuse I am sailing in the same boat :( ..want to have a baby as soon as possible, tested positive for skin test but chest x-ray was neagtive.

About PCOS- was this a result of powerful doses of TB or did you already have it?

Komal- I wanted to know whether the laproscopy & hsg of tubes that you mentioned were performed because of this postive skin test or due to some other reason ? How long did it take in your case ?

since i was out of town for a day..i cld not open the net and reply u sorry.actually i got a swelling juz below the neck..but no pain nothing..so then they did a needle biopsy and found out its a TB infection...as u said..most of the indians with _ve xray but +ve skin test..its not a Literal TB patients..thz means in medical terms..we r NOT the donars of TB..we r infected by TB..for these..they wont isolate from others instead they will put us under 9 months medication..and that too these americans r scared of TB..they will provide all free medication by the county u belong.but they will advise u not get pregnant.but if u get preggo by any chance then they will dcreases the doses and increase the period(9 to 1 yr may be ..,i am not sure).i started right way when i was told that i am infected by TB.

About PCOS..my GYN told me that mostly it wont affect the reproduction but chances r there.she also told me PCOS will show elarly syptoms of irregular perio or no period or heavy perriod..in early 20 's(age)..in that way yeas i got PCOS b'fore TB.

Kaya I already had those tests to determine my reason for infertility but nothing was found wrong.As for me they recommended 9 months of medicine but as I said I have an appt with high risk obgyn & if he okays it then my infertility specialist will continue treatment & I will not take those medicines.
