i have a 8 week old daughter.
she had some problems when she was born(surgery and other issues) so she was given bottle. now she is recovering and at home. i am trying to BF. she does not latch on.
but she gets breastmilk through bottle. i have enough milk.

susi, you mentioned earlier that your son was BF after 5 months, so all during that time, did you pump and also try to latch him on. or what were you doing. please let me know.

vani, how are you trying. please suggest if something works for you.

i am very desperate and frustrated. after all the emotional problems., this one seems very frustrating as i feel the baby hates me. she likes when i hold her she sleeps well on me,. but when i offer the breast, she gets upset.

mom susi replied. Dear Mom, I can understand your frustration and worry because I went through the same scenario. Since you have enough milk your baby needs you don't have to worry about it. Sometimes your baby might start taking directly from 3 month onwards.
Actually I never tried to latch him until he was 4 months. After 4 months he would take from the breast sometimes and not consistently. But after 5 months I never showed him the bottle for a day and he started feeding directly.
So all you need to do is be patient. Do not force the baby, both you and baby may end up being frustrated.

My story was other way round.soon after delivey ie a week later I was hospitalised for a high fever.MY son dint latch on prev and he has to be given botlle with both formula/breastmilk.he got nipple confused and refused to suck.He refused to bf for aweek.after which,i stopped giving him bottle and fed him spoon.
after 2 feedings he forgot bottle and begin to drink as if from a spoon.then i stpped that too and tried to latch on which he caught later on.so dont lose hopes.eone have their own problems in thir own way.U can try nipple shield but keep that as last option since that will not stimulate milk aspump/baby does
dont lose hope.In mean time try to give the little finger for ur baby to suck.if she learn to do that well.she will def go for u.best of luck
