I m also trying to ween him from breast to sippy,he did not welcome it.He has learmt how to take the sippy since he has water in it,but not formula.
I m also feeling that my milk capacity is going down....hence started weening him.....

Why don't you give mashed rice/dal/sweet potato/boiled carrots/osterized fruit to your baby?

I would trust my own mother/grandmother's advise over any Ped's. They just try to scare you into treating your baby like a he/she will give you a shock if you touch it the wrong way. Just remember how you grew up and what you ate (ask your mom) and things will become easier for you. We have a 6.5 month old daughter and we give her rice/dals/boiled veggies/osterized fruits and anything else my mom/aunts/grandmothers tell us.

I agree with 'rashpal'. Your son may be allergic to rice cereal. There are other cereals available too like oatmeal; try that. Also as soon as feeding session is over clean messy area very throughly and dry it with towel.
For the other problem, mixing formula and breast milk is a good idea. First 80% breast milk and 20% formula and then gradually increase formula and decrease breast milk.
Hope this helps.

Hi
Why don´t you try mashed banana in milk. Start by adding little banana and if he likes add more. Banana tastes like breast milk so most of babies like this. All the best.

It's possible that your son has an allergy to the rice cereal. I would stop giving it to him especially if he is not welcoming it - I would also speak to your doctor. As for trying to wean him, try giving him breast milk in the sippy cup and slowly adding formula to it. Maybe he just needs a little transition time before he will take only formula. Good luck
