Eating Problems:traditional food

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help or give some suggestions on what to do. I have a 2 year old who is quite a good eater, but will not eat food with Roti. She will eat Roti on its own but never with a curry, be it vegetable or meat. She is not bothered about spicy food, as long as it is not too hot and will eat rice with most things. However, what I would like for her to do is eat Indian veggies with roti and any other curries. She eats well at lunch time as long as its pasta, noodles, pasta, pastry filled with veg, cheese, cauliflower brocli cheese. If I try to give her something with a gravy, like dal or meat curries she refuses, it is the fear of getting her fingers dirty. So what do I do? I would so much like her to eat tradition food and not turn into a fussy eater. Any suggestions would be truely welcome. Thanks

Don't worry so much as long as she eats something. And from what u say she sure likes tasty and healthy stuff. You can try spread cheese with roti. Roll it like a spring roll and then she might not think about dirty fingers. Slowly you can stuff with less spicy curries. Children generally don't like to waste their \";precious\"; time with eating, that's the main reason they like food which can be eaten on the go. Just be innovative and mix traditional food with finger food and they will enjoy. She does eat veggies and it is great. You can also make your own burrito filling with traditional food. And try giving some dessert after every meal, just a few tsp is enough but that sure does make them finish their meal. Maybe shrikand or fruits, or custard. I hope these suggestions are useful. Good Luck!
