few of the sms were jokes while some were like hello beautiful,or do you like me or love me.after that episode he has not sent any sms or mails to my sister but due to his long working hours some thing pricks me in the back of my mind

Confront him why did he send those messages may be he thought that by making a pass your sister would come close to him he must have thought that she will not tell you, Its not normal that he is sending such mesages to her even if he is too freindly with her, you didnot mention what jokes if dirty jokes than its bad sure, and if normal jokes than may be to cheer her up that also if they share a healthy and freindly realtion, but asking her if she likes him or loves him sure raises many questions, i suggest be careful and make him realise his mistake.
