I wouldn't worry too much about there being any sort of brain damage. From everything I have read on the topic, the skull simply is forced to change shape because of the constant pressure on it from the baby laying down. Try changing the baby's position when he sleeps at night - apparently they will turn towards the light so try changing his position in the crib every other week. Also, make sure your child is spending a lot of time on his tummy, not on his back. The worse case scenario will be that your child may have to wear a helmet for a certain period of the day. Do a search for flat head on GOOGLE, there should be a number of sites you can go to.
