Due Date Club December 2005:Is it ok?

Hi all,
I am starting my 17th Week. Doctors have prescribed me the Fefol tablet for Iron and focil acid and also calcium tablet which needs to be taken in afternoon after meal. I just hate medicin, and above all these tablet are very big in size. If they were smaller then it would be ok.. but having these biger tablet is like vomiting.
Is it ok if I skip these tablets one or two days and have them? I know this is a stupid question but I just cannot dream of having these tablet.

Hey, I have the same issue with big tablets. I usually break them up into 2-3 pcs. and swallow them. However, if you are in India, you get a Folic acid tab called Folvite. Its really small and recommened by my doc. Try that!

Hi ammy,

Never take Iron & Calcium together there should be a gap of atleast 1 hour between them. So you can take Iron & Folic acid after lunch and calcium after dinner. If in a day you think you have had enough of milk, dairy products, pudina, rajmah, or any other rich source of calcium then you may not need to take the tablet, you need 1500 mg of calciium everyday, about 20 mg iron and and 400 mg of folic acid, as per my doctor. Here in Greece we get pregnacare which is 1 tablet and has everything but calcium since calcium should not be taken with iron. You can read all about it at www(.)vitabiotics(.)com/pregnacare/pregnacare_pregnancy.aspx?ID=20&sm=14

HI Ammy,

I think you should ask your doctor for smaller size tablet which you can take 2 times a day. But please try not to skip them. Your baby needs it, won't you give ur baby his needs?...think you are going to be a mother and imagine ur baby while taking any medicine and i m sure you will not have any problem!

Still you can ask ur doctor to have them in smaller size and 2 times a day. And one thing you can try take the medicine just before ur meal and then have meal so that you will not have taste in ur mouth. I do that with my prenatal vitamin. I take them before dinner and then I take dinner.

so try in diff ways but don't skip them!

Stay healthy & enjoy ur pregnancy!

The gync with whome I had a appoinment is really good but still that Doctor tag remains..

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
