my doc has suggested that i give my baby fruit juice, dal water and veg soups in addition to milk and forumula food. he doesnt seem to like veg soups esp tomato. how do i induce him to have it? is there any pattern for feeding a 4 month old? he usually has his cerelac in the morn, breastfeed in the aft, juice in the evening and dal water at 7 pm. i wd love some advice from those who have been there. Vanita replied. Babies upto 6 months old, who are satisfied with breastfeeding, do not need ANYTHING additional, not even water. After that, a new food can be introduced (once a day, for a week) to see of the child has any allergies. The child may at first reject, or accept very little. Never use a feeding bottle for any liquid food. Use the bowl & spoon right away. Make sure that the vessels and ingredients are clean. Continue breastfeeding. As outside food is added, water has to be added too. make sure it is boiled & filtered. Unclean eating can be a source of infections.

I have not start anything to my son until he turned 6 months. He was totally on breast milk till 6 months then I started fruit juice & dal with little salt & hing . Regarding soup I start giving him tomates when he was 10 months that too once in a while as it is citric & might be allergic too. I suggest u to not to give tomato soup, insted of tomatoes u can try mix veggi soup. Don't worry & don't force him to drink soup if he is not willing to as already u r giving him juices & dal water & a formula milk which is enough for 4 months baby.
If u want to give soup try giving him soup after some day when he gets bore of drinking juices everyday.As babies likes changes. Let him take his own sweet time.
