Hi though i don't post any messages,i am a regular reader of this group and i find it very informative and useful.I am 32 and i have a 5yr.old son.I conceived him natuarally though i had trouble in conceiving.Two years back i had conceived and it was totally unplanned but i had to terminate it for medical reasons,Since my insurance did not cover i had to go to the clinic where they do it and i had to do it there but i went to my OBGYN for followup and everything was been fine. Last yeari had to change my OBGYN and when i had been for a regular checkup i told her that i am planning for my second pregnancy so she put me on Clomid 50mgfor 6cycles and this is my lastcycle without any monitoring when asked she said it is not necessary to monitor me and also when i asked if my husband(38)has to get a semen analysis done.I also tried the Ovulation Kits which worked and i knew i was ovulating and had intercourse in that manner but with no sign of pregnancy after that.My cycles are usually between 28-30days.So my question is, is it because of my age that i am not able to conceive? or is that i have to consult a fertility Doctor? Please give me some advise since i want a second kid soon.Any help is appreiciated.Thankyou. archie replied. Dear Lucky,
Although you provide enough background, which is good to understand case there is something I find little strange while opting procedure.

You have had a little trouble getting pregnant for first time but got it somehow, good for you.
You got pregnant without any help, indicating you both were healthy and had no issues of fertility.
In a year fertility could have changed in either of you and may pose problems to get you pregnant, which is true. But when you choose to go new OB/GYN why did she start you Clomid? Was it that you tried for a year and failed? If yes then the choice of clomid was OK yet not perfect.
Why I say OK, because it could be that you are not ovulating properly. It's still not fine choice because s/he did not do semen analysis and have no clue as to if the difficulty is because of semen trouble.

If you were not trying for a year and put you on clomid then choice was a little inappropriate to case.

Again why the clomid dose was not increased in subsequent cycles? Why was it always 50 mg? Why did not your Dr. opt to follow your ovulation in clinic besides you checking with OPK.

I think what's needed in your case is;
a semen analysis, he is 38 and could be a problem, not that he is old enough to get low sperm count but you know each one is different.
your age is 32, which is not good age but definitely not very old.

After knowing semen results in parallel to that get a HSG for you and then know what's going on.

If all is well then unfortunately have to go for your reproductive endocrinology tests.

To me seems if you try around ovulation with OPK help without clomid for about a year you will hit success given that he has good sperm count and your tubes are open.

If you were D&C for second pregnancy then if it was done by less practiced personnel then excess scraping of lining could lead to difficulty in getting pregnant. That's why D&C is great if done by an expert.

Hope these points/comments will make you understand what could be going on with your case.
