HiTwinkle:

I hv 2 sons aged 8 yrs and 3.3 yrs and my younger one has enlarged tonsils since he was 1 yr old. Believe me it was a nightmare. However, since the past yr or so he does not suffer from infected tonsils but more so throat infections. He runs temperature even upto 105 on one occasion. He refuses to eat during the entire time and has to hv antibiotics. Believe me I am a mother in distress. I hv consulted many doctors. They could not find the main cause as I am very careful avoiding soft drinks, certain sweets, cold stuff etc. etc. but went on to tell me he has a very very sensitive throat and can just come on more so due to change of weather if nothing out of the way is consumed. So, first find out the cause of this throat infection that your son has, if there is a cause probably something he ate then try and avoid it. See how often (hopefully not) it occurs and only time will tell. I hv been thru hell with my son's throat problems, now he is 3 and I feel he is doing much better and feels he will outgrow this sensitivity (hope so!).

A throat infections subsides on its own and needs antibiotics if accompanied by fever. However, he will refuse to eat during this time but you hv to try and give him his favourite. Well I hv been thru it several times and it is very difficult but we as mothers hv to try and try.

Finally, hope your son recovers soon which I am sure he will and do let me know
