Shy Kids:Not responding to teachers questions

Hi,

My daughter is 3 year and two months old. She is very talkative at home, how never open her mouth in the nursery. Teachers are complaining about this and in spite we telling her she remains same.
Can any suggest some thing about this? Is it too early to take her for a counciling?

hey all,

reading all these posts made me realize that schools play a major role in the personality development of a child.i had to shift my kid' s school as i shifted my place of residence due to my husband' s transfer...my kid joined presidium senior secondary school and i saw big positive changes in him...i mean the confidence level and everything...earlier he was an introvert now he talks like wow! i think a good school can really help your kid speak up...

My son is an only child. Very talkative at home, but shy in front of strangers. So, whenever he has to go somewhere, we speak to him about him, and tell him what ideal behaviour is. And trust me, it works wonders.

Don´ t chide her or belittle or pressurize her. Just tell her once a week or so... about how nice it is that she goes to school, and is a big girl. Encourage her to speak up in class. You´ re a big girl, do you know all the answers to the teachers questions ? I bet you do. Why don´ t you answer next time.

And be very positive. Even if you see no results for some time, keep up the encouragement and slowly she will open up. My son was silent during the settling in period, when the mothers were in class. But, once we left, he opened up.

Relax. It´ s not a big deal. Let her open up in her own time.

Hello, It is to early to label your kid as shy becoz kids do have fear of strangers quiet for some time. It is too early for counselling. Wait till she grows to 5 years atleast. Please try to provide an environment where she can meet new friends, relatives, and tries to be comfortable with new environment.

RE:Shyness right or wrong?
According to me you should take your child to a counselor and ask her what is the exact problem as this is not common and you should get into it as soon as possible and understand the real reason behind the same, please do not ignore this its a request.... - Anaida [View Message]
RE:Shyness right or wrong?
Hello dear this is really nothing to worry as its very common and you should not take this matter as a big concern as kids at this age are normally shy and they do not like meeting new people infact they want only their friends and all with them.... - Anita [View Message]
