Dear friends

This month was planning to do my ICSI.
The doc was to give some injections before periods.
Just asked her what if ihave conceived by any chance this month?
So she asked me to do Beta HCG.
To our utter surprise the Result has come 11.9mIU/ml....i.e on higer side.So the doc has said now that we will go slow.



well the facts are:
My LMP were on 7th may.
I ovulated and had relations on 20 or 21st may( using opk).
I did the test on 1st june i.e 11 days after ovulation.
The observed value is 11.9.
Its non pregnant if the value is less than 5.3(AS per report).
Referance range is :
Gest LMP RANGE
1.3-2 3.3-4 16 to 156


now Archie is there any chance that i cold have conceived?
or is it possible that the value rises even otherwise?

The doc today did internal sonography but could not find anything. If atall i have conceived will the usg would have been harmful because thereafter i noticed just few strand of blood in my mucus...or is it that the periods r on the way.?

Doc says the levels r high but she cant say any thing right now.
i know its too early ...but im getting very anxious,but i dont have any symptoms.
the test has to be repeated again after 3 days.
Archie i will b grateful if u can help me in any way .....im getting too jittery specially because it has happened naturally when i was about to start my cycle.

I am a little upset and confused on all the story.
When it's known that levels above 5 are indications of pregnancy then why you guys did not wait for actual period date to pass say another 5 days based on ovulation (16 days post ovulation) and repeat home pregnancy test and also beta hCG to assure levels were on rise than being stable at 11 or gown down from 11 to <5.

I do not understand haste behind ultrasound. Was that transvaginal?

I know patients get anxious due to their personal reason but why Dr. was in rush?

Well I can't really say beside the hCG amounts to my knowledge have to be <5.3 if non pregnant. Unless someone has fibroid or sort of trouble the hCG values are not supposed to remain on high. If you have had lost in last cycle or so had baby delivered recently then the hCG levels can be on high for about 6 weeks, otherwise they should not.
